Character Education (including British Values, SMSC, PSHE and RE)

Character education is an integral part of our ethos and vision across the school.

At Hoo St Werburgh, we place character and values at the heart of all we do. Our values courage, confidence, respect and belonging enable our children to flourish. These values are taught, caught and sought at our school and are represented in our school mascots Connie Chameleon, Caleb Capybara, Roxi Rhino, Bert Bee.

We recognise similarities and links throughout our curriculum particularly SMSC, PSHE, British Values and EDI and have drawn these together to create our character curriculum.

Character education helps us to achieve and sustain well-rounded pupils and a thriving society. By doing so we develop confident and compassionate pupils who are effective contributors to society, successful learners and responsible citizens.
